Our team focuses on disciplined project execution, risk management, and excellent client experience management throughout the construction process. Based in Stephenville, Texas, Fortress was founded with a simple vision: create a company that does it better, a team that executes with precision, a culture of integrity, and a client experience that builds long-term trust. Clay Popkess
President
Operations and Quality Management
Clay built extensive construction management, building science, and commercial roofing experience over the last decade. Studying Construction Science at Tarleton State University, Clay has lived and breathed the world of construction and roofing for his professional career. Managing all aspects of complex renovation, new construction, and commercial roofing projects allowed him to gain deep understanding into how building systems function. Fascination by the critical details of what makes assemblies work or fail is what led to the passion for running a building envelope company.
Carter Skaggs
Business Development Partner
Outside Sales and Client Retention
Carter has worked in several business management roles during his career, ultimately finding a passion for serving others as a licensed paramedic, after coming out of Tarleton State University's Business Administration program. With a love for building relationships and providing high-quality service, Carter now brings these skillsets into the Fortress team. He works to build long-term, trust based relationships, and help every client have the best possible experience with the team.
Kaleb Landes

Kaleb is completing a business degree in finance and accounting from Boyce College while also pursuing a Master of Divinity at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. After graduation he plans to pursue a Master of Accounting and CPA licensure. With a love for numbers, systems, and business management, he provides Fortress with streamlined process management. He works to ensure every project and client has precise organization in order to provide the best possible services. Kaleb keeps the team functioning “behind the scenes” so every customer can have the level of service expected.
